Tips for Conserving Water
In July the Las Virgenes Municipal Water District (LVMWD)
introduced  a new water conservation campaign, carrying the theme
“50 Ways to Save Water”. The community outreach effort is targeted to
build awareness on the need for every home and business to reduce
water use in light of the statewide drought.

                                 Water Wise Tips

  • Repair dripping faucets and save up to 2,700 gallons a year.

  • Fill your bath half full and save 30 gallons.

  • Minimize evaporation by watering in the early morning hours, when
    the temperatures are cooler and winds are lighter.

  • Do one thing each day that will save water. Even if savings are small,
    every drop counts.

  • Use Community Compost from the Las Virgenes Municipal Water
    District in your gardens to keep the soil moist.

  • Refill your pool for evaporation loss only - don't change out the water.

  • Run sprinklers at the right water pressure-- too high gives inefficient
    vapor spray -- too low makes a weak spray.

  • Install high efficiency toilets.

  • Chill a pitcher of water in the refrigerator instead of running the tap
    for cold drinks, so that every drop goes down you, not the drain.
